Well, after nearly 5 years and over 14,000 miles, my Trek Fuel mountain bike went peacefully into the great “good night”. You know, took a dirt nap, went belly-up, in other words it died. Although as an Exercise Physiologist, I advocate to others that cross-training is important for your fitness regimen, I hadn’t really practiced what I preached until then. For the past 3 months, I have been running and playing basketball for my cardio workout but it just isn’t the same.
I am now in the market to get a new mountain bike and am thinking about going hard tail and trying a 29-er as they are very popular with those in my age group (I passed my thirties a long time ago). I have ridden many different bikes from various manufacturers (Trek, Giant, Specialized) and have had both dual-suspension and hard tails. Problem is that I ride the heck out of my bikes and budget is an issue. Would love some feedback from you and any recommendations would be appreciated.
